Fossil Discovery at Monkey Jungle

In 1994, a team led by former Dade County Archaeologist Robert S. Carr unearthed important archaeological discoveries in a sinkhole at Monkey Jungle.

The 10,000 year old fossil specimens including human teeth and bones from animals such as the saber tooth tiger, dire wolf, Pleistocene horse and camel, represents the largest find in South Florida.
